Sri Lankan origin Uma Kumaran to the British Parliament

In this election, for the first time in British history, a woman member of Sri Lankan Tamil origin has been elected to Parliament.

Uma Kumaran, who entered Parliament representing the Labour Party, was born in East London to a Tamil couple who fled to Britain as refugees during the war.

Meanwhile, Keir Starmer, who became the 58th Prime Minister of Great Britain by reporting a historic victory, has announced the new cabinet, which includes 11 women.

It is special that two women have the position of Deputy Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Parliament, two of the highest positions in the cabinet this year.
