Sri Lanka wins by defeating Holland

The Sri Lankan team won the 20-20 World Cup by defeating the Netherlands by 83 runs in the ‘D’ group final.

Opening batsman Kusal Mendis and middle order batsman Charit Nisanka scored 46 runs each to take Sri Lanka’s total to 201 for 6 wickets. That number of runs is the highest number of runs scored in this field in an international Twenty20 match.

In response to Sri Lanka’s 201 for 6 wickets, Holland were bowled out for 118 in 16.4 overs.

Captain Scott Edwards and opening batsman Michael Levitt scored 31 runs together to raise the hopes of the Holland team, but the Dutch innings was limited to 118 runs due to Sri Lanka’s fast bowling attack.
