Nuwan Dharmaratne, who served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Pelwatte Sugar Company under the Ministry of Industries, has resigned from that position.
He was appointed to the position by Minister Vijitha Herath after serving as the Chief Operating Officer of the company for 8 months. Minister Sunil Handunnetti has asked him to resign due to a post he made on social media about the crisis at the Pelwatte Sugar Company. Accordingly, he has submitted his resignation as follows.
He stated that he was not the one who organized the farmers’ protest and that he did not know the farmers who participated in it.
