Next year’s government expenditure will reach Rs. 4,600 billion.

The Appropriation Bill for the allocation of funds for government expenditure for 2025 was presented to Parliament for first reading today by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. Accordingly, the government’s expenditure for this year is estimated at Rs. 4,616 billion.

The second reading of the bill will be held on February 17, 2025, and the debate is scheduled to be held from February 18 to 25. The vote on the second reading is scheduled to be held on the evening of February 25.

Thereafter, the committee stage debate, also known as the third reading debate, will be held from February 27 to March 21, and the third reading vote is scheduled to be held on the evening of March 21.
