Mahinda Samarasinghe joins delegation for tariff talks

A Sri Lankan delegation has visited the US for the second time to discuss the new tariffs imposed by the US.

The discussions were held with a team at the US Embassy in Washington.

Deputy Finance Minister Harshana Suriyaperuma, Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe and a group of others left Sri Lanka for this purpose. Sri Lankan Ambassador to the US Mahinda Samarasinghe, who is currently in the US, has also joined the delegation.

The relevant photographs have now been released and the arrangement of the negotiating table suggests that Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe is engaged in some important work in the Sri Lankan delegation. Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe has been living in the US for a long time representing the Sri Lankan government and is considered a respected diplomat by the US government, according to foreign media.
