The Defense Ministry has rejected a request to hold a war heroes commemoration under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, says Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam.
However, he stated that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has decided to hold a war heroes commemoration near the War Memorial on the 20th of this month, considering it a national duty.
He said that President Anura Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya will be requested to participate in the national war heroes commemoration ceremony to be held tomorrow.
