State Minister for Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, has announced that despite the current challenging economic situation, salaries for public servants are expected to be increased in the upcoming budget. Siyambalapitiya expressed his hope to raise salaries during the last quarter of this year when presenting the budget.
He emphasized that the government must implement rigorous financial management in order to facilitate salary increases for all 1.5 million government employees.
