Inspector General of Police CD Wickramaratne retired from his post today (25). He got 3 service extensions after completing 60 years. It was special that President Ranil Wickremesinghe had extended his service even without the approval of the Constituent Assembly.
According to sources at the police headquarters, the Inspector General of Police CD Wickramaratne has made phone calls to the senior DIGs and the DIGs and informed them of his retirement.
Sources at the police headquarters further state that preparations are underway to appoint Senior DIG Deshbandu Tennakoon in charge of the post of Inspector General of Police, Western Province.
