If GSP Plus tariff concession is desired, PTA must be abolished

Deputy Leader of the United National Party, Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake, says that there are several steps that the government must urgently implement in order to continue the GSP Plus tariff concession.

Speaking to the media, the MP pointed out that during the UNP government, the minimum tariff amount for exports to the European Union was reduced to a low level of 23%.

Since its future existence is currently in doubt, the MP pointed out that the government should immediately repeal the currently active Prevention of Terrorism Act or present an alternative as proposed by the European Union.

The MP also emphasized that the government should provide an answer to the European Commission by 2028, and since those representatives are still coming and holding discussions, the government should provide a correct answer to that.
