The Executive Director of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Center, Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, says that the government should immediately intervene to resolve the Korean employment issue.
Due to the inefficiency of the officers working at the Foreign Employment Bureau, the Sri Lankan youth who have received visas have been denied the opportunity to go abroad, but the Foreign Employment Bureau is not interested in intervening in the issue or giving a specific reason for the situation, he said.
If the youth who have met the qualifications and received visas are not allowed to go to Korea, Sri Lanka will again lose these job opportunities with state intervention, insurance coverage and many other job security, he said.
He said this while commenting on the police intervention in a protest organized by a group of young people against the loss of Korean employment opportunities.
