The Criminal Investigation Department has initiated an investigation into the death of a student at the University of Sabaragamuwa. Accordingly, officers of the Criminal Investigation Department today (04) visited the Sinharaja Hostel, the student hostel where the freshman was raped, and conducted an on-site investigation.
At that time, four students who were hiding in the hostel were arrested by the officers and brought to the Samanala Wewa Police.
These students who were brought to the samanalawewa police station . and thye are scheduled to be produced in court and investigations are underway to find the other suspected students. Furthermore, the police say that there is eyewitness evidence that the student who died due to the rape was tortured.
