Adding a new page to the history of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Sugath Wasantha de Silva, the first visually impaired MP, addressed Parliament today.
In his maiden speech, he said that after 76 years, a person with a disability has been appointed to the Parliament of Sri Lanka. He also said that he hopes to show the work that a representative of the people can do despite having a disability in the next five years.
MP Sugath Wasantha de Silva was elected to Parliament as a National List MP of the National People’s Power (NPP).
