Except vehicles, the import ban on all other goods lifted

The government has decided to give permission for the importation of all goods except vehicles, which are prohibited to be imported into this country in the first week of next September.

It is reported that President’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayake said this in a discussion held with officials of the Ministry of Finance and officials of the International Monetary Fund. It has also been decided to conduct a weekly review regarding the proposals of the International Monetary Fund.

The current import ban is to be lifted in two phases by the first week of September and the government has decided to continue the vehicle import ban ferther.
