Electricity tariff to be increased by 15% from tomorrow.

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has decided to increase electricity tariffs by 15% for the second half of 2025. This will be effective from tomorrow (12).

At a press conference held today (11), the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, K.P. L. Chandralal, stated this.

The Electricity Board had proposed to increase electricity tariffs by 18.3% for the second half of the year. Public consultation was conducted at the district level in the past few days.
