MP Dharmapriya Dissanayake said in Parliament today that conducting tuition classes for grades other than Ordinary Level and Advanced Level during the Dhamma school period on Sunday has become a problem.
He asked the Minister of Education and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya whether the government had taken any decision or regulation regarding this issue.
Responding to this, the Prime Minister stated that various requests have also been received from religious leaders in this regard.
The Prime Minister further stated that discussions are being held with the relevant parties regarding this and that appropriate steps will be taken accordingly in the future.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister further stated that the Ministry of Education does not have any policy regarding the regulation of private tuition classes.
