According to the report, some opposition MPs have started an attempt to hand over a resolution to the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena asking for a selection committee to be appointed to look into the ongoing crisis related to the Sri Lanka Cricket Association.
Commenting on this matter, Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara told the media that about ten MPs have already signed this resolution. He says that the members of the Uttara Lanka Coalition led by Wimal Weerawansa and the group led by Member of Parliament Dallas Alahappuram support this proposal.
MP Jayasekara rejected the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa’s statement that proposing a selection committee when this proposal was submitted to the Parliament could be an attempt to wipe out this issue. Jayasekara said it was a foolish idea of the opposition leader.
Leader of the House Prasanna Ranatunga said in the parliament on Saturday that the government would also accept a selection committee, but opposition leader Sajith Premadasa said that the appointment of such a committee would put the issue under control.
