Police say the shooter involved in the murder of Dan Priyasad has been arrested in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo.
Police said that the main suspect who carried out the shooting was arrested in the Cinnamon Gardens Police Division yesterday (02) evening following a raid conducted by a team of officers from the Southern Crime Division of the Western Province based on information uncovered during the investigation.
Police said that the arrested suspect is a 52-year-old resident of the Webada area.
Police further said that this suspect is also a suspect involved in the murder of Dan Priyasad’s brother.
Dan Priyasad, a social activist and a candidate for the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna this time, died on the night of April 22nd while receiving treatment in a critical condition following a shooting in the Wellampitiya area.
The shooting took place in an apartment building in the Salamulla area of the Wellampitiya Police Division.
The Western Province Southern Crime Division and the Wellampitiya Police Station have initiated further investigations into the murder and one suspect in connection with the incident has already been arrested and remanded in custody.
