Sri Lanka Cricket has officially announced that it has decided to end its partnerships with the Colombo Strikers and Jaffna Kings, two teams that participated in the Lanka Primer League tournament.
The IPG Group has informed Sri Lanka Cricket that these teams have failed to act as per the agreements entered into when joining the league, and accordingly, IPG and Sri Lanka Cricket have jointly taken this decision.
As the owner of the LPL events, the IPG Group has the power to make decisions regarding the ownership of the teams, and it is reported that it is planning to find new owners for these two franchises in the future and hold the next LPL tournament at a higher level.
