The need for a structured approach to boost the local economy, boost the tourism industry and enhance the tourist experience in Colombo city through increased night-time tourism activities has been identified.
Accordingly, a project has been planned to develop the Colombo Marine Road, which is about 7.4 km long, from Kollupitiya Railway Station to Dehiwala, under the theme “Marine Nights: Awakening Colombo”.
It is expected to focus more on the area from the Galle Face Corner to St. Thomas’ Primary School. Accordingly, the proposal submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism to implement the proposed project was approved by the Cabinet.
