The Court of Appeal today (08) sentenced retired army major and lawyer Ajith Prasanna, who pleaded guilty to the charge of contempt of court, to 6 months’ imprisonment with hard labor.
The judgment states that the sentence should be implemented after the completion of the 4-year sentence he is currently serving.
Announcing the verdict, the President of the Court of Appeal, Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne, said in open court that he believes the respondent, Ajith Prasanna, will not make any insulting statements to the court.
