Minister Vijitha Herath said that his party believes that it can win a majority of seats in Thursday’s parliamentary elections, but hopes to form a national unity government with members of parliament representing the Tamil and Muslim communities to create national unity.
“We are open to discussing the formation of a national unity government with these MPs who represent the Tamil and Muslim communities. Because through this, we can truly achieve the national unity we hoped for. But I must state that even if there is no unity government, the National People’s Force can work for all sections of the people.” He further said.
However, he insisted that this invitation for a national unity government is limited to these MPs representing these communities and is not valid for Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and United National Party (UNP) MPs.
