A Sri Lankan pilgrim who participated in this year’s Hajj has died due to a heart attack.
It is reported that the extremely hot weather in the area around Makkah is the cause of this death.
The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs states that the deceased is a 68-year-old man from Akkareipatthu area.
Foreign news reports that 550 pilgrims have died in Makkah due to the hot weather and stampedes during the pilgrimage.
