Community Medical Specialists Association expresses its opinion about the Listeria disease which has been widely discussed on social media and is spreading among the people who have visited the Sripadasthan.
So far, only one Listeria patient has been reported from Sri Lanka, and the rumor that two people have died from the disease is not confirmed, Dr. Navin de Soysa, media convener of the association said in a press conference held today.
Dr. Navin de Soyza said that listeria can be contracted through food and the symptoms can be diarrhea, stomach ache and fever. Dr. Navin de Soyza points out that following proper hygiene practices is essential to protect against this disease.
