A cable connected to the Indo-Lankan electricity supply

It is reported that Sri Lanka and India are now ready to form a joint venture to implement the power grid connectivity project.

Accordingly, a transmission line under the sea is to be built connecting the power systems of the two countries.

According to this proposal, Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka and Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu state in India, are to be connected through a direct power line. After a 130-km land transmission line in India, the supply will reach Sri Lanka via an undersea submarine cable at Thiruketeeswaram in Mannar, northeastern Sri Lanka.
