Eggs are weighed in grams and sold

Sarath Ratnayake, president of the All Ceylon Egg Producers Association, says that it has been decided to sell local eggs by kilos in the future. Accordingly, he said in a press conference that the sale of eggs at a price of 80 cents per gram will start today in Central Province.

“We made a decision to change the egg sales. Now we sell eggs by the kilo. If the bakery owners can buy eggs from India at 85 cents per gram, we offer Sri Lankan eggs at 80 cents per gram.

If you need 10 Indian eggs for a cake, but if you use domestic egges, 6 or 7 egg is enough. We will start this from the Central Province. These eggs are sold at 80 cents. He said.
