Electricity and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said in a tweet that the electricity tariff proposal prepared by the Electricity Board has been handed over to the Public Utilities Commission regarding the electricity tariff revision to be carried out on July 1st.
According to the government’s new policy, electricity charges should be revised twice every year (January 1st and July 1st), and the revised prices have been submitted to the Public Utilities Commission.
It is stated that while preparing the proposal, the Electricity Board has prepared the proposal including the actual electricity generation data and electricity sales data, as well as the actual prices of fuel, coal and other raw materials.
