13 labor laws are going to be amended at the request of the IMF.

Wasantha Samarasinghe, former Member of Parliament of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, says that the world used to work for 8 hours in the 1800s, and nowadays people in developed countries work for 06 hours.

He said that even though such a situation exists in the world, the Sri Lankan government will introduce a 12-day work shift instead of the eight-hour work shift, make laws to employ women in night work and employ children.

He said that the government is working to amend 13 labor laws by putting more pressure on the working people at the request of the International Monetary Fund and everyone should protest against it.

He said this while distributing leeflets in front of the Fort railway station against the proposed labor laws.
