Sports federations are regulated to bring medals to the country

Sports and Irrigation Minister Roshan Ranasinghe says that Sri Lanka can get trophies and medals if sports associations are properly regulated. He further said that if the money allocated for sports is used for the promotion of sports, there is a possibility of guiding talented children in the villages.

The Sports Minister who came to Kandy visited the Maha Nayak Thero of the Malwathu sect of the Siam sect and mentioned this to him.

The minister also said that talented groups were identified during this year. He said that 170 medals and trophies were won for Sri Lanka through various sports events.

The minister mentioned that the infrastructure needed for sports should be developed in the villages and sports equipment should be provided to the amateur athletes.

He said that the construction of the tunnel that transports water from Moragahakanda reservoir to Anuradhapura was started yesterday and it was temporarily stopped due to the economic crisis last season. But Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe added that the construction started with the resumption of development projects that are important for the economy.
